In order to secure political triumph during the remainder of his four-year term, the Esteemed Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, must heed the resounding calls of the populace and select individuals of commendable competence and unwavering integrity to join his esteemed Shared Prosperity Administration.
The efficacious governance of any administration fundamentally hinges upon the aptitude and unwavering dedication of its appointed personnel (individuals of sound reasoning and steadfast accountability).
The Shared Prosperity Administration of the preceding quadrennium encountered formidable hurdles, primarily due to certain political appointees and assistants who lamentably underperformed in executing their designated duties.
Governor Uzodimma must exercise prudent discernment in handpicking individuals who will authentically contribute to the realization of his esteemed leadership objectives.
For instance, the erstwhile Imo Commissioner for Transport, Honorable Barrister Rex Anunobi (Sokom), notwithstanding his commendable endeavors in his role, ought not to be reconsidered for appointment due to undisclosed concerns.
Governor Uzodimma should graciously permit Sokom to gracefully relinquish his position and redirect his energies towards other endeavors, particularly OPOCA.
Similarly, Professor Johncliff Nwadike, the former Imo Commissioner for Education, is not deemed suitable for inclusion in the subsequent batch of appointees owing to his lackluster performance during his initial tenure.
The former Imo Commissioner for Solid Minerals (Mining), Honorable Martin Ekeh, regrettably failed to make a positive impact on the Shared Prosperity Government.
His appointment, presumably facilitated by familial connections through his brother, Sir LeoStan Ekeh, rather than being predicated on merit, resulted in ineffectual service and involvement in dubious overseas travel endeavors.
Governor Uzodimma, who now exhibits heightened vigilance regarding the performance of his appointees, is methodically considering capable individuals for political office appointments.
There exists a resolute mandate against the reappointment of certain former Commissioners and Special Advisers due to their checkered past performance records.
Significantly, the nomination of Honorable Bede Ekeh as Commissioner-designate has elicited apprehension among the populace, particularly the youth.
Honorable Bede, hitherto a seasoned legislator at both the State and Federal levels for numerous years, is now, lamentably, embracing the offer of a Commissionership. One cannot help but ponder his failure to delegate his Commissionership offer or quota to any of his trusted associates.
Notwithstanding Governor Uzodimma’s campaign pledges to empower the youth, the nomination of a seasoned lawmaker for multiple terms is met with palpable unease.
As more appointments loom on the horizon, the citizens of Imo State, especially the youth, eagerly anticipate the inclusion of capable individuals who genuinely embody the collective aspirations of the state.
