Luton Town’s imposing forward, Elijah Adebayo, has announced his aspiration to compete for the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, following an outstanding season leading the Hatters’ promotion charge.
The robust striker believes his deep Nigerian ancestry and stellar performance could secure him a coveted invitation to represent the Super Eagles at the global level.
“Ancestry holds significant importance for me,” he expressed in a video shared on social media. “My mother hails from Nigeria, and although she relocated to England, I have fond memories of visiting Nigeria in my youth and eagerly anticipate returning.”
“My grandmother resides in Nigeria, further solidifying my connection. I take great pride in my Nigerian heritage and harbor a strong desire to don the national colors. It would undoubtedly bring immense joy to my mother as well.”
Elijah Adebayo’s meteoric ascent in English football has seen him transition from non-league football to a pivotal figure in Luton’s quest for a remarkable promotion to the Premier League.
