Today, in Owerri on Monday, July 15, 2024, Hon. Pastor Frank Onwumere, the Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, on Motor Parks Supervision and Illegal Parking, issued a powerful denunciation of certain government officials. Onwumere accused these officials of deliberately sabotaging his office’s initiatives aimed at establishing order and legality in the state’s motor parks.
During a recent press interaction with ThePressman Newspaper and other journalists at his office located in New-Owerri Heroes Square, Onwumere expressed his frustration over what he termed unwarranted interference. He described a “Cabal of Corrupt Individuals” who are determined to derail his efforts aimed at ensuring order and legality within the state’s motor parks.
Onwumere detailed that, despite being in office for just two weeks, he had initiated a comprehensive agenda to tackle the pervasive issues of illegal parking and ineffective motor park management. He shared, “We have achieved significant progress in upholding traffic regulations through stringent supervision and proactive awareness campaigns. Last weekend, we orchestrated an extensive roadshow, traversing critical routes in the Owerri Metropolis including Douglas Road, Rotobi Street, Ama JK Junction, and other prominent locations, to promote compliance among commercial vehicle operators.”
However, despite these accomplishments, Onwumere accused powerful individuals within the government of obstructing his initiatives. He denounced these officials as “cabals” who have engaged in a covert campaign against him by spreading deceitful rumors and baseless allegations.
With palpable frustration, he stated, “These cabals are working tirelessly to undermine our efforts and stymie the progress we have made.” Onwumere underscored his unwavering commitment to Governor Uzodimma’s vision for Imo State, which is encapsulated in the Governor’s “3Rs” mantra: Recovery, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction. He firmly declared, “We are not dissuaded by these internal saboteurs. Our mission is to deliver on the Governor’s promise of a more organized and lawful transportation sector. We are not beholden to these malefactors but are accountable only to the people of Imo State and Governor Uzodimma.”
Drawing a historical parallel to emphasize his resolve, Onwumere referenced the biblical figure Moses. He remarked, “The people of Israel did not oppose Moses in their quest for liberation from Pharaoh’s tyranny. Just as Moses was chosen to guide his people to the Promised Land, Governor Uzodimma has appointed us to bring order and reform to Imo State’s transport sector. We face resistance, but our duty remains clear and unwavering.”
Onwumere further condemned the prevalent malpractices that afflict the state, describing them as “a gross aberration of justice and order.” He elaborated, “It is unacceptable for major roads to be turned into chaotic marketplaces. Such lawlessness is not only detrimental but also a flagrant violation of both legal and moral standards. Those who profit from this disorder are the true enemies of progress in this administration.”
In a decisive tone, Onwumere vowed to expose these corrupt elements. He asserted, “The time will come when their names and positions will be made public. The challenges we face are largely due to these cabals, and their attempts to obstruct our mission will not succeed.” He concluded with a metaphor, saying, “To achieve meaningful change, one must be prepared to face resistance. Like breaking an egg to make an omelet, we must confront these obstacles to bring about a better, more just society.”
Hon. Pastor Frank Onwumere remains steadfast in his commitment to the principles of the Governor’s administration, resolutely determined to overcome the nefarious schemes of those who seek to undermine his efforts for a prosperous Imo State.
