Concerned youths of Owerri West Local Government Area have insisted that it is the turn of Umunwoha political bloc to produce the next Executive Chairman of their Council Area in the forthcoming Imo State Local Governments elections.
This formed part of the major resolutions of the Owerri West indigenous youths during their emergency meeting held in Owerri on Saturday 17th August,2024.
Speaking to journalists immediately after the meeting, the youth group spokesman, Comrade Chibueze Opera maintained that it is high time for all the stakeholders of Owerri West to come together and defend the already existing zoning arrangement of elective positions among the three political blocs of Owerri West,Ochie,Arah and Umunwoha in order to ensure justice,equity and fairness.
Comrade Opera described youths as the “life wire” of every nation, urging critical stakeholders of Owerri West Local Government to queue into their resolutions as the entire youths of Owerri West are ready to resist injustice by ensuring that Umunwoha produce the next Executive Chairman come September 21st,2024 Imo LGs polls.
Hear him,”Owerri West people should emulate the Executive Governor of Imo State,His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma who believes in doing things right. Many of us are “card-carrying” members of the present ruling All Progressives Congress,APC. And we’re happy with our amiable Governor because of his leadership sagacity for which we are optimistic that he must look inward and consider our yearning.
Umunwoha people have men and daughters with impeccable characters as well as needed capacities to make the best LGA Chairman in Imo State”.
“Below is the historical analysis of elected LG Chairmen of Owerri West since 1999;
1.Umunwoha bloc (Zone) has had minimal representation, with Hon. Engr. Ikenna Elezieanya, who held the post for a mere seven (7) months before his tenure was nullified by the Supreme Court.
2.Ochie bloc (zone) has seen two chairmen: Hon. Chidi Ordu (Madoka) and Hon. Victor Murako.
3.Arah bloc (zone) has had one time Chairman in the person of Hon. Evans Anaele.
Given these facts, it is evident that the Umunwoha bloc is justified in seeking the upcoming chairmanship.
Additionally, the Arah zone currently holds several significant positions, including the Majority Leader of the Imo House of Assembly, the Owerri West LGA APC Chairman, and the Sole Administrator, SOLAD, of Owerri West”,he further revealed.
Those present during the meeting for their blocs were Hon. Michael Opara (Umunwoha bloc), Hon. Chidi Okoro (Ochie bloc), and
Hon. Chief Kingsley Onyemaechi (Arah bloc).
