Tomorrow, Saturday, September 21, 2024, the people of Imo State will go to the polls to elect brand new set of local government area council’s chairmen in the 27 LGAs of Imo State as well as councillors in the 305 wards of the state, hence paving way for a new beginning in the social, economic and political structures of the state.
The forthcoming polls which having been reverberating joy, excitement and great expectations among the Imo people who had for a long time lost taste of effective local government system, was a consequence of a renewed efforts by the Governor Hope Uzodimma-led government to entrench functional LGA administration in the state. To ice the cake, the Supreme Court recently gave a landmark judgement, granting full autonomy to the LGAs.
Meanwhile, these joyful expectations seemed more pronounced in the Owerri Municipal Council; the core seat of power of the state because a worthy and youthful son of the municipality and the All Progressive Congress (APC) Candidate, Hon. Engr. Chidiebere Emeribe, is set to emerge as democratically elected chairman of the municipality as the Saturday LGA polls is at hand.
Underlying this joy is the sure hope that Hon. Emeribe’s government will usher in an era of unprecedented transformation in all the areas of the municipality, hence the people of the area are longing for him, and eagerly waiting for Saturday, September 21 to vote him massively into office. It’s instructive that residents from the 11 wards of Owerri Municipal Council are unanimous in this decision, thus leaving Hon. Engr. Chidiebere Emeribe as the people’s choice.
With his amiable attributes and qualities, Hon. Emeribe, no doubt embodies all that people desire in a leader. And having occupied various leadership positions in the past, the Amawom Autonomous Community-born engineer had proven himself capable, competent, tested and trusted and willing to render more selfless and fruitful services to the people of the area.
Over the years, the Owerri Municipal APC chairmanship candidate has steadily, consciously and with good dispositions, equipped himself for leadership through prudence, excellent commitment to responsibilities and loyalty to the leaders. We can recall with pride that Hon. Emeribe’s tenure as the Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of Amawom Autonomous Community witnessed great, thrilling and celebrated success.
By implication, he did not only exhibit amazing leadership prowess in that assignment to his community, but launched himself for a higher and future leadership engagements that consequently saw him through positions of trust and public importance, including serving successfully as the APC Monitor for Owerri Municipal Council as well as the immediate past Sole Administrator (SOLAD) where his few months in office recorded positive changes that should be sustained.
As a vibrant and progressively minded youth, Hon. Emeribe has further endeared himself to the hearts of the people of Owerri Municipal through his humility, accessibility, love for others and disposition towards the holistic development of the municipality. It can be said with confidence that his administration will replicate the giant strides of the Shared Prosperity Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma, hence creating more opportunities for advancement in Owerri Municipal.
Now that the much awaited Imo State 2024 LGA elections being organized by the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) is around the corner, it’s expected of every lover of the progress of Owerri Municipal Council to demonstrate such on Saturday by standing solidly behind Hon. Chidiebere Emeribe, and ensuring his overwhelming electoral victory for the chairmanship election.
Worthy of note is that a victory for Hon. Chidiebere Emeribe is a victory for youths empowerment, infrastructural development, provision of accessible healthcare and qualitative education to the residents. It will also usher in enhanced security architecture, environmental transformation, inclusive administration and sanity in Owerri Municipal Council among others. So, tomorrow is the day to actualize this noble cause.
Assuredly, the combination of Hon. Engr. Chidiebere Emeribe and Sir Lawrence Okoye as the Owerri Municipal Council’s APC chairmanship candidate and the vice-chairmanship candidate respectively, simply translates to a winning team. Truly, AKACHUKWUDIYA!
