Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo, the newly inaugurated Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA) in Imo State, has officially resumed office. His inauguration, along with other elected council officials, took place on September 30, 2024, under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, at the State Government House, Owerri.
During a press briefing at the Mbaitoli Local Government Headquarters in Nwaorieubi, Hon. Nwanegwo shared his vision for the people of Mbaitoli, outlining a two-point agenda centered on Agricultural Development and Road Infrastructure. He emphasized his commitment to improving the livelihoods of his constituents by prioritizing these key sectors, which are vital to the economic and social growth of the region.
In his address, Hon. Nwanegwo promised an inclusive style of governance and assured that he would involve everyone in his administration, including those who contested against him in the local elections. He also expressed his readiness to address all existing leadership disputes within various communities in Mbaitoli, striving to promote peace and unity.
The Chairman called on the people of Mbaitoli to remain supportive of the Shared Prosperity Administration led by Governor Hope Uzodimma, as it aligns with his plans for the area. He reiterated his passion for fostering peace, development, and unity across the LGA, promising to deliver leadership that will significantly improve the lives of the people.
Additionally, Hon. Nwanegwo assured the residents of Mbaitoli of his commitment to securing their lives and properties, pledging that his leadership would bring tangible benefits to the community. He also revealed that the elected councillors would be inaugurated next Tuesday, marking another important step in his administration’s journey towards progress.
In a bid to demonstrate his dedication to resolving conflicts, Hon. Nwanegwo has already taken steps to address the lingering leadership crisis at Nwaorieubi Modern Market. He urged the warring factions to lay down their arms and assured them that his administration would resolve all court cases related to their disputes, ensuring a peaceful and productive environment for traders.
