A non-governmental organization, The Better Life for Aged Men Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the welfare and emotional well-being of aging and elderly men. This was the outcome a strategic meeting of volunteers held at Duchess Bar, Owerri, on Wednesday, April 1.

Welcoming attendees, the Visioner and Convener, Amb. Jerry Osuji expressed appreciation for their dedication, describing their presence as a reflection of a shared mission to restore dignity, purpose, and joy to aging men who often face neglect and loneliness.

“We are not just a group; we are a movement,” he said, emphasizing the foundation’s goal of creating a society where no elderly man suffers in silence or isolation.

The meeting highlighted the organization’s progress since the successful hosting of the Second Chapter Summit in October 2025 in Owerri. The summit, inspired by the story of a lonely elderly academic known as “Professor T,” addressed what the foundation described as a “silent epidemic” of loneliness among older men.

It also introduced key frameworks, including the Anti-Loneliness Architecture and the Four Actionable Pillars blueprint.

According to Osuji, a multiple award-winning broadcast, the foundation’s vision continues to resonate with stakeholders. He referenced remarks by Mr. Ben Mbakwem, who described the initiative as a timely intervention targeting a largely overlooked demographic.

As part of the expansion efforts, Osuji announced a new corporate headquarters for the foundation located at No. 284 Okigwe Road, Orji, which he said will serve as the central hub for its programs and outreach activities.

He disclosed strengthening of partnerships with key stakeholders, citing a recent “productive” meeting with Chief Sir. Dr. Nath Anozie, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Owerri North Local Government Area Chapter as establishing a direct communication channel to better address the needs of pensioners.

In addition, he said that the foundation was intensifying its digital outreach as part of an aggressive awareness campaign, noting that Its official website was nearing completion. He urged volunteers to actively promote its presence across social media platforms to broaden engagement and visibility.

To enhance operational efficiency, volunteers were assigned specific roles, including community outreach, media and publicity, event coordination, and administrative support. These roles are expected to drive the foundation’s grassroots impact and ensure structured growth.

“We are building something that will outlive us,” Osuji said, urging volunteers to work with integrity and compassion.

Some of the volunteers in their remarks commended the initiative for touching the very foundation of humanity, expressing optimism of such bringing succour to the needy. They pledged commitment towards its success, while soliciting public support and encouragement.

Some of the volunteers present included Prince Iheanetu Evans, Mr. Dan Asoluka, and Evangelist Ifeanyichukwu Ibe, among others drawn from various establishments. The meeting offered an opportunity to reflect on how individual initiatives can uplift humanity and contribute to making the world a better place for all.
