G7 leaders have denounced Iran’s retaliatory attack on Israel. Iran launched a wave of drone and missile strikes toward Israel, accusing Israel of an earlier airstrike on its consulate in Damascus. Israel remained silent on the matter but is widely believed to be behind the attack. The Israeli military claimed to have intercepted 99% of the incoming projectiles.
After a meeting on Sunday, the Group of Seven reaffirmed their commitment to Israel’s security. In a statement published by the White House, the G7 leaders expressed full solidarity and support for Israel and its people. They accused Iran of provoking a potentially uncontrollable regional escalation with the attack.
The leaders demanded that Iran and its proxies cease their attacks and emphasized their readiness to take further measures to stabilize the situation. Additionally, they pledged to strengthen cooperation to end the crisis in Gaza, including working towards an immediate and sustainable ceasefire and providing increased humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in need.
