The Coalition of Societies For The Protection Of Older Persons Rights ( COSROPIN ) , Imo state chapter has celebrated the senior citizens by providing indoor games , free medical outreach and health talk.
Speaking in Owerri,during the event that was tagged: “Older Persons ‘s Handout” , organized by COSROPIN for the senior citizens, the state coordinator of COSROPIN, Barr Mrs Ngozi Njoku , noted that is necessary to celebrate and appreciate the efforts of the senior citizens . She advised them to stick to their medication and exercise their body so as to look healthy and safe.
Barr Njoku, appreciated those that graced the occasion . She prayed God for blessing and strength upon the senior citizens.
In his welcome address, the state chairman of Nigerian Union Of Pensioners ( NUP )., Dr J . B Ugochukwu , thanked the organisers of the event for remembering the senior citizens. He maintained that the efforts of the pensioners cannot be emphasized . He advised the senior citizens to always visit the state secretariat to enjoy the free medical care and the out door games.
Flagging off the free medical care , the Imo Commissioner For Health, Barr Prosper Oyahaya , Commended the past efforts of the senior citizens . He assured them that their welfare and benefits is sure as far as the three R government is concerned. He advised them to indulge in physical exercise and take their free medical outreach and health insurance scheme serious .
The National President of Coalition of Societies For The Protection Of Older Persons Rights ( COSROPIN) , Senator Darlington Eze Ajoku , assured the senior citizens that the organization will continue celebrating and appreciating their past efforts. He urged them to always indulge in social activities and remove their minds from worries and anxiety. This, according to him will help them stay more longer .
The event featured health talk , delivered by Dr Paul Ojinkeya .
The highpoint of the event was flagged off of the free medical care and presentation of outdoor games equipments.
