As the Government of Imo State distributed palliative: Rice and Noodles to the youth, the South East Organizing Secretary of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comr. Evang. EIC Agwuncha, has described the feat as humanitarian.

He said the palliative is timely as it will douse hunger among youths caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Speaking during the official Flagg Off of Imo Youth Talent Hunt and the Distribution of Palliative by the Governor held on Tuesday at Admiral Ndubuisi Kalu Square, Owerri, Agwuncha, who is also the NYCN Zonal Secretary, South East, disclosed that the sharing of the palliative was not political as all registered youth organizations in the Ministry of Youth Development and Talent Hunt benefited.

According to him, “no body was exceptionally selected as all registered youth organisations such as NYCN, SUGs, Youth Parliament, Community based youth organizations, Faith based youth organizations – Catholic youths, Anglican youths, Voluntary Uniform youth organizations – Man O’ War, Boys Brigade, among others, represented by their delegates. The food items were evenly shared. So, the sharing of the palliative is not based on political affiliation, but to the real youth of the state”.

Adding that the palliative was purely provided by His Excellency, Governor Hope Uzodimma and distributed by the Commissioner for Youth Development/Talent Hunt, Dr. Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu, alongside the Ministry, Agwuncha begged beneficiaries to share the items with their loved ones, including their neighbors to help them assuage hunger, assuring that more palliative will be distributed in the future because authorities are determined to help them cushion hunger and its effects.

Agwuncha saluted the Governor for appointing Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu as Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Imo State, an appointment he said has bridged the gap between young people and government, saying the governor is redefining democratic governance in the state.

He described Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu as a nice human who he said is youth oriented and development driven.

“The Commissioner has done well few months in office and he has assured to fish out talented youths and empower them accordingly”, Agwuncha added.
