United Nigeria Airlines is set to make its international debut, with operations scheduled to begin on August 25, 2025. The airline will commence flights to six major destinations: the United Kingdom, United States, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Senegal, and Ghana. This marks a significant milestone in the airline’s growth strategy and signals Nigeria’s increasing presence in global aviation.
The announcement comes as fellow Nigerian carrier, Air Peace, secures a prized flight slot at London’s Heathrow Airport—an achievement that highlights the country’s expanding influence in international air travel.
In a strategic move to support its global ambitions, United Nigeria Airlines has signed a distribution agreement with Sabre, a leading global travel technology company. This partnership will allow the airline’s flights and fares to be accessible through the Sabre travel marketplace, vastly improving its reach and visibility among international travelers.
Osita Okonkwo, Chief Operating Officer of United Nigeria Airlines, described the deal as a pivotal step in the airline’s efforts to become globally competitive. He emphasized that the agreement would provide worldwide access to the airline’s services for the first time.
From Sabre’s end, the collaboration was met with optimism. Alessandro Ciancimino, Vice President of Airline Distribution for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, stated that Sabre is committed to helping airlines of all sizes scale and meet the demands of modern travelers. Joshua Olowo, President for Sabre Central and West Africa, added that the partnership is in line with Sabre’s mission to empower local carriers with the tools they need to grow revenue and improve passenger experience.
With these developments, Nigerian airlines are positioning themselves as significant players in global aviation, signaling a new era of international connectivity and competition.
