The winds of digital transformation have officially swept into Isiala Mbano as Hon Evang Chika Okoroike, Executive Chairman of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area, unveiled a newly completed state-of-the-art ICT Centre at the council headquarters in Umuelemai. In a time when digital skills are no longer optional but essential, this bold initiative marks a major leap forward in youth empowerment and community development. The new ICT Centre is more than a facility it is a beacon of opportunity for young people and residents eager to explore the boundless possibilities of technology.

The commissioning of the centre also signaled the official launch of a free digital skills training programme tailored to equip participants with hands-on knowledge that meets the demands of todays global tech economy. From unemployed graduates and aspiring tech professionals to curious beginners, the programme is open to all with zero cost attached.
Equipped with high-speed internet, modern computers, and cutting-edge software, the ICT Centre offers a learning environment designed for real-world application. Every corner of the facility reflects a clear vision to prepare the next generation of Isiala Mbano residents for meaningful roles in the digital space. Speaking during the inspection and flag-off, Hon Okoroike said that the initiative aligns with the broader mission of the Imo State Government to drive digital inclusion, build local capacity, and reduce the digital gap between rural and urban areas.
This is not just a training programme he said. It is an investment in our people. We are creating a future where the youths of Isiala Mbano will not only participate in the digital economy but thrive in it.
The programme which will run for a period of three to six months features a robust and practical curriculum taught by top ICT professionals. It covers key areas including artificial intelligence, web development, programming, cybersecurity, animation and graphic design, database management, networking, and data analysis. Each course has been carefully selected to ensure that participants gain relevant skills that can lead to employment, entrepreneurship, or further academic advancement. The programme is structured to accommodate both beginners and those looking to upgrade their existing tech knowledge.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the initiative is its accessibility. With no financial barriers, youths and residents from all walks of life can participate, regardless of their background or previous exposure to ICT. The programme is open to secondary school leavers, job seekers, students, artisans, and anyone with a passion for learning and a desire to grow in the digital space. Participants will also receive mentoring and guidance from experienced instructors throughout the duration of the training.
Hon Okoroike noted that beyond empowering individuals, the ICT Centre is expected to spark wider economic growth in the area. As more residents gain digital skills, local businesses will benefit from a more capable workforce, and young entrepreneurs will be better positioned to launch startups, tech hubs, or freelance careers. This is how true development starts he said. By giving people the tools they need to create change for themselves and their communities.
Interested participants are encouraged to register online through the official portal. The application process is simple and user-friendly, and slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The ICT Centre stands today as a proud testament to what visionary leadership and people-focused governance can achieve. Through this programme, Isiala Mbano is not just catching up with the digital age it is stepping confidently into the future.
