IMO POLITICS MOVES TO ADOPT YOUNG LEADERS IN GOVERNANCE.

by admin

The political debates in Imo State over the issue of whether the young leaders should govern the state or not have now appeared to be clear across different political parties affiliations for young leaders to emerge, with a view for positive changes and for the good of Imo people.

According to chief Matthew Nwosu he said,” The issue of young leaders to take over as governors in Imo State has been a major debate over the years. Although previous government under the watch of governor Rochas Okorocha, made strong emphasis on the issue, stressing that only those below 50 years can contest for governorship position. But some people misunderstood him on that, particularly on his move to install his son in-law Chief Uche Nwosu as Imo governor then. Again, we didn’t saw young leaders with content, vision, capacity and courage that we can trust for the position then! “.

Chief Matthew Nwosu maintained that the decisive step of Sen Hope Uzodinma over the issue of young leaders in governance should not be seen or believe to be what he personally want , but rather is what the majority of Imo people now really want. Adding that the change is timely and believed to be for the best interest of Imo people.

Again, the chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC)  in Imo State Chief Austin Onyedebelu recently has assured the party resolution to give the young leaders a chance in governance. According to the  chairman of Imo State APC Chief Austin Onyedebelu he said, ” We are creating an enabling environment that will enable us work with the youth. No doubt, some members of Imo State APC youth are the people that make things happen. In fact, it was in the past the youths are forgotten, l will tell you that for now going forward, it will no longer be so in our party, particularly here in Imo State. We will continue to work together now, during and after the 2027 elections”.

In another development, the Imo State critical stakeholders, women groups and youth groups has commended the executive governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma for his decisive approach over the long political debate in Imo State concerning the young leaders. Again, it is evident that the Imo State political gladiators has also adopted the timely shift of power to the young leaders hence resolved to go for national politics (National Assembly), leaving the young leaders to govern the state. Indeed, Imo people saw it as a welcome development, which no doubt is believed to deliver effective good governance for them.

Again, according to Sen Hope Uzodinma speaking to Imo stakeholders at EIICC during an event in owerri he said,” My vision is to empower the youth for great future in Imo State. The future of Imo State depends upon our youths. And the future is not a date in calendar but a direction”.

Interestingly, the political observers in Imo State has confirmed the unity of purpose and passion among the Imo Young leaders, hence has acknowledged Dr Emma Amaefule as the new face of Imo Young leaders. No doubt, his wide consultations to different Youth groups and organizations across the three zones in the state, and their massive supports to him for a coalition movement has given him the courage to speak for Imo Young leaders in governance.

According to Dr Emma Amaefule speaking recently to newsmen in owerri he said,”  The Imo Young leaders are willing to translate ideas into good policies and propose  solutions that can address our challenges directly with lasting impacts, aimed for the good of the state and her people. Indeed, the future belongs to societies that invest and believes in their youths. Hence, the young leaders are the pillars in the building of Imo State, and it will be wrong if we intend to build for a great Imo State with the neglect of the strong pillars, which are the young leaders”.

It was gathered that replacing an aged leader with a young , experience leader is crucial for maintaining an organization’s or state relevance, efficiency and long-term success in a rapidly evolving world. Hence, a young leader brings a necessary blend of energy, digital fluency and innovative thinking to tackle modern challenges. In Romans 3:3 – 4 said, ” For what if some did not believe? Shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar …? Indeed, GOD CANNOT LIE!
