CGTII Hosts Celebratory 2nd Quarter Graduation, Equipping Future Caregivers

Recently, the CareGivers Training & Internship Institute (CGTII) in Owerri, Imo State, held its 2nd Quarter Graduation Ceremony, recognizing the achievements of students across a variety of programs. Graduates from the Diploma Class of 2024 (Levels 1-4), the Higher Diploma Class of 2024 (Levels 4-7), and several Certificate Courses were honored for their dedication and hard work.

CGTII has established itself as a leading institution for caregiver training, dedicated to equipping graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge to secure employment both locally and internationally. One of the standout moments of the ceremony was the keynote address delivered by Prof. Ossy E. Nwebo, a respected legal expert, who highlighted the vital role caregivers play in society and the important support they provide to those in need.

When speaking with the journalist in Owerri, the Rector of CGTII, Bishop Prof. Athan Azubuike,(JP)praised the graduating students for their commitment and successful completion of a demanding training program that integrates both theoretical and practical components. He emphasized that the institute’s mission is not only to provide technical training but also to foster career growth. “We aim to prepare our students to excel in various caregiving environments, from personal care homes to hospitals and daycare centers,” he stated.

The rector listed more than 40 specialized courses offered by CGTII, covering essential caregiving skills. Training includes Basic Supervision, Personal Care, and Behavioral Management, particularly focusing on individuals with specific conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The comprehensive curriculum is designed to provide hands-on experience through practical and clinical internships. Graduates received Caregiver Certifications along with Letters of Recommendation, enhancing their employability.

Reinforcing the institute’s commitment to quality education, Prof. Azubuike remarked, “Our extensive curriculum, along with practical internships and a global perspective, equips our students with the tools they need for successful careers in caregiving.”

The ceremony included a wilde range of memorable activities, such as the presentation of graduates, oath-taking, and ceremonial decorations. Awards were also given to acknowledge the contributions of individuals who have significantly supported the institute and the caregiving field. Graduates expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their mentors and instructors, including Pastor Samuel Ugochukwu, Tutor and Project Supervisor; Evang. Mary Jane Ngozi, Tutor; Lady Amb. (Dr.) Rejoice C. Azubuike, Registrar; and Pastor Elijah Egbuogu, who handled administrative duties.

As the ceremony came to an end a great tributes to Prof. Athan Azubuike (JP), the Rector of the institute,as graduates poured out their lovely appreciation for his guidance and unconditional support. In his closing remarks, Prof. Azubuike celebrated the successful completion of the training programs and looked forward to a promising future for the newly certified caregivers, who are now ready to make a meaningful impact in Nigeria and abroad.
