The Commissioner of Police , Imo state , CP Aboki Danjuma and his men are battling to unravel varacious claims by Owerri based solicitors and advocate of the supreme Court of Nigeria, Uhuegbu Chineme & Co that one Fidelis Anokam from Amaeze -Obibiezena , USA based
attempted murdering His worship, Cosmos Chigozie Agiriga , his in-law and his tenant at Works layout , Owerri.
In a copy of the petition dated 11th.October 2024 addressed to Imo state commissioner of Police from the Uhuegbu and Chineme Chambers on behalf of magistrate Agiriga made available to Newsmen, allegations are that Fidelis Anokam alongside his wife Gladys , based in the United States of America sent hoodlums who came on Wednesday 9th.October 2024 , demolished his apartment ,carted away valuables including cash and documents .
The petition signed by the head of Uhuegbu Chineme Chambers, JUSTICE. C. UHUEGBU Esq. adumbrated that His Worship, Agiriga and Fidelis Anokam already have a matter pending before a court of competent jurisdiction bothering on tenancy.
Speaking at the rubbles of the demolished apartment at 60 UMUDAGU Mbieri Works layout Extension , Owerri the Victim who nearly broke down with emotions narrated his ordeals in the hands of Dr. Mrs Gladys Onny Agiriga-Anokam and husband, Fidelis Anokam.
The Petitioner said he never contented the ownership of the property but a bonafide tenant who was also mandated to take charge of the property on behalf of the Anokams.
He regretted that his in-law who has turned treacherous with the sister, Dr. Gladys might be under the influence of demons and other negative forces up to something else to the extent of trying to snuff out his dear life.
On the propensity of negativities, Magistrate Agiriga told newsmen that several attempts to frustrate and jail Mrs. Josephine Anokam , mother of Fidelis Anokam together with his eldest sister Mrs Virginia ( nee Anokam ) by Fidelis and wife over a minor family feud . Perhaps Magistrate Agiriga’s refusal to do this hatchet job from Fidelis ,created bad blood between Magistrate Agiriga and his in- law Fidelis Anokam.
In his words ” today here we are, that I refused to jail Fidelis Anokam ‘s mum because of the mum’s intention to sale her Property at 10 Afikpo street Aladinma Owerri has attracted this wrath of wickedness and evil unto me and family.
Magistrate Agiriga told Journalists that as at 2019 , he was living comfortably in a two bedroom apartment though not in Naze as alleged by Fidelis Anokam and his tenancy was still running .He said ''I never solicited becoming a tenant in my in-law 's residence because of his bad characters until serious pleas from Fidelis Anokam and wife . They engaged my professional services of evicting old tenants living therein.In fact,the genesis of the problem was the intention of Fidelis Anokam and wife Gladys Onny Anokam ( Nee Agiriga) to forcefully evict me unlawfully”.
Our reporters who have followed this story recalled that several Pleas from eminent citizens in the Judiciary and government, urging this USA based Imo-indigenes,Fidelis Anokam and his wife to adhere to due process of the law never yield any positive result.It was gathered that the Chief Registrar, even the Honourable Chief Judge of Imo State had earlier advised Fidelis Anokam and his wife not to embark on any form of self-help,but rather seek redress in the court of law for the recovery of their property.
The Petitioner urged the Imo CP Aboki Danjuma to fish out one ASP Vincent Nweke , Godwin Emmanuel , Humble O. Nwachukwu with Joy Iheanyi who Fidelis Anokam and Dr Mrs Gladys Anokam have always used to threaten and and harass him, ( Magis Agiriga)It would be recalled that Fidelis Anokam had earlier authored newspaper publications where he accused the Magistrate of claiming ownership of the building.
While investigation revealed that no evidence to buttress his claims.
