In a remarkable development, the Executive Chairman of Ehime Mbano LGA, Chief Uche Nwodu, on Wednesday, January 22, reeled out his achievements in the area during an interaction with newsmen in Owerri as part of the activities marking his 100 days in office alongside other colleagues.
The performance scorecard of the chairman, showed significant milestones in heath, infrastructural works, security and human capacity building among others.
Nwodu, noted his understanding of the financial constraints of the people towards meeting their health needs, adding that such prompted him to secure health insurance to the tune of N16.5million for 1,100 (one thousand, one hundred) indigines of the LGA, with pregnant women, elderly persons and vulnerable children between 0-5 years as the initial beneficiaries. He disclosed that arrangements were underway to get more people insured to reach his target of 3,300 beneficiaries.
Stating his resolve to utilize public funds for the benefits of the people, the chairman, outlined his infrastructural works on road rehabilitation in all the eleven wards of the LGA. This fact, he explained, was attested to by motorists who enjoyed smooth rides during the yuletide. He also revealed undertaking renovation of administrative blocks at the council headquarters, in addition to the construction of six-bedroom security house for soldiers.
Human capacity building was not left out as Chief Nwodu, said that his administration had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mbara Ozioma Collage of Technology in Ehime Mbano to train 1,100 Ehime Mbano youths on various skills.
The three-month certificate training, he emphasized, would be funded by the local government, while the beneficiaries are expected to acquire competencies on various skills, including, fishery, wielding/fabrication, solar installation/maintenance, fashion and design as well as bead making among others to cushion the effects of unemployment and restiveness among the youths. He added that the LGA was ready to provide the beneficiaries additional support upon graduation.
Besides, Chief Nwodu, informed the journalists that on assumption of office, he discovered that the council area was in darkness, but it took his swift action to embark on electrification, including the installation of solar lights. He maintained his resolve to always put the people of Ehime Mbano first through people-oriented programmes, disclosing his open-door policy for good ideas and initiatives to move the LGA forward.
He used the opportunity and urged the people of the area to be steadfast in their support towards his administration and the state government, promising to justify his mandate through selfless and impactful service delivery in Ehime Mbano LGA.
