Mass Defections Hit APC in Adamawa as Grassroots Leaders, Hundreds Join ADC Over Hardship

by admin

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State has suffered a major setback as grassroots leaders and hundreds of supporters defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing worsening hunger, joblessness, and economic hardship.

The move, led by former APC stalwart Ahmed Sani in Gombi Local Government Area, was marked by a large reception rally where ADC State Chairman Yohanna Shehu described the defections as a grassroots breakthrough and a sign of growing political change in the state.

During the event, the ADC distributed 5,000 bags of rice and maize, as well as school bags and textbooks to children in the ten wards of Gombi. The gesture was widely seen as both a relief effort and a political statement.

Analysts say the defections could weaken APC’s influence ahead of the 2027 elections, as ADC positions itself as a credible alternative in the state.
