The continous debate on which Zone either Okigwe Zone or Owerri Zone will produce the next Imo State governor has caused Stakeholders to mount pressure on governor Hope Uzodinma hence the former special adviser on Artisan in Imo State, Dr Ajunwa Paul popularly known as “Ishiopi” has called on Imo State critical Stakeholders to remain calm and allow Sen. Hope Uzodinma to concentrate on good governance.
Speaking to newsmen in owerri the Imo State capital, Ishiopi said, ” The confusion now in the state concerning the Zone that will produce the next Imo governor is a disturbance to Sen. Hope Uzodinma. In fact, l urged the various groups, leaders and Stakeholders to allow the governor to rest and finish his tenure. Indeed, their pressure is also a distraction to the delivery of good governance to Ndi Imo “.
Again, Dr. Ajunwa Paul a.k.a “Ishiopi” pointed out that the rotation in Imo politics started in 1999 and since then, the 3 blocks namely Okigwe Zone, Owerri Zone and Orlu Zone have participated as governors in Imo State. And it’s obvious that the rotation is still in progress with a view to move to the next Zone. No doubt, Okigwe Zone gave Owerri Zone maximum support to produce a governor. But presently, orlu Zone took power from owerri Zone to progress the rotation to the next Zone.
In another development, Ishiopi lamented that the issue of ” Our turn and our time ” as well as charter of equity needs to be understood. Adding that each Zone has tested the governorship position for at least for two times, with orlu Zone having three times. ” Equity is fairness in progress rotation within the three Zones but when it is chartered it becomes personal and no longer equity in it’s meaning and expectation” – Ishiopi said.
