Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has sounded the alarm over what she describes as a disturbing rise in violent attacks across the country, warning that the level of insecurity has reached a point that should no longer be ignored.

Yesufu, known for her outspoken advocacy on national issues, said the frequency and brutality of recent incidents suggest that Nigeria is “already at war,” even if many citizens have not fully acknowledged the severity of the situation. According to her, the pattern of killings, kidnappings, and coordinated assaults in multiple regions reflects a dangerous escalation that demands urgent government intervention.

She further lamented that Nigerians have become increasingly desensitized to tragic news, noting that daily reports of violence in rural communities, highways, and urban centers point to a deeper national crisis. Yesufu stressed that the country cannot continue to operate in denial while lives are being lost and communities destroyed.

Calling on authorities at all levels to take decisive action, she urged the government to strengthen security strategies, improve intelligence gathering, and prioritize the protection of citizens. She also encouraged the public to stay vigilant and to demand accountability from political leaders.

Yesufu’s warning adds to the growing concerns expressed by civil society groups, security analysts, and community leaders who argue that insecurity has reached unprecedented levels. Her remarks serve as a reminder that Nigeria’s stability requires immediate, sustained, and collective action.
