Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has called on the Federal Government to make the recruitment of new military and police personnel a top national priority and to ensure that fresh recruits are deployed to serve in their states of origin.
Sani explained that posting security operatives to their home states would significantly strengthen the fight against insecurity, especially in regions grappling with banditry, terrorism, and other violent crimes. He noted that officers who understand the language, terrain, and social dynamics of their communities are better equipped to gather intelligence, build trust, and respond swiftly to emerging threats.
According to the former senator, this approach would not only improve cooperation between residents and security agencies but also enhance the overall efficiency of national security operations. He added that community familiarity often leads to more accurate information sharing, which is essential for preventing attacks and dismantling criminal networks.
Sani urged the Federal Government to consider this strategy as part of broader reforms aimed at restoring stability across the country. He stressed that a more community-rooted security structure could help rebuild public confidence and create safer environments for citizens.
