The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has rolled out a large-scale security operation with the deployment of 4,000 personnel across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the festive season. The initiative is aimed at maintaining law and order while ensuring the safety of residents and visitors during increased holiday activities.
The deployment covers key locations across the territory, including churches, mosques, shopping centres, motor parks, entertainment venues, and other public places expected to record heavy crowds. The Corps is also strengthening the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, such as power and water facilities, to prevent vandalism and sabotage.
According to the NSCDC, the operation forms part of its proactive security measures to deter criminal activities and complement the efforts of other security agencies. Officers have been placed on high alert, with regular patrols, surveillance, and rapid-response units positioned across both the city centre and satellite towns.
The Corps has called on residents to stay alert and cooperate with security personnel by providing timely information on suspicious activities. Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the NSCDC assured that the security deployment will remain in force throughout the festive period to guarantee a peaceful and hitch-free celebration in the FCT.
