The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has impounded 21 commercial motorcycles and arrested their riders in Abuja for violating the ban on motorcycle operations along major roads.
The arrests were made during a coordinated enforcement exercise carried out by police officers in collaboration with other security agencies and officials of the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO). The operation focused on major highways and restricted routes within the city where commercial motorcycle activities remain prohibited.
According to the police, the riders were apprehended while conveying passengers in defiance of the existing ban. The motorcycles were seized, and the suspects were taken into custody for further investigation and prosecution in line with traffic and public safety laws.
The FCT Police Command warned that enforcement of the motorcycle ban will be sustained across the territory. Authorities urged motorcyclists and residents to comply with traffic regulations, stressing that continued violations will attract stricter sanctions as part of efforts to ensure safety and order on Abuja roads.
