Former Nasir El-Rufai has dismissed speculation of a personal dispute with President Bola Tinubu, stressing that their relationship remains respectful despite clear political differences. He described claims of hostility as exaggerated, noting that disagreement over policy should not be mistaken for personal conflict.
The former governor of Kaduna State explained that his position is driven by concerns about governance and the country’s future direction. He emphasized that constructive criticism is vital in any democracy and should serve as a catalyst for improvement rather than division.
El-Rufai also declared his intention to actively engage in efforts to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in future elections. He framed this move as part of a broader mission to deepen democratic values, promote accountability, and ensure that leadership remains responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
Reiterating his respect for the presidency, he underscored that national interest must take precedence over party loyalty. According to him, vibrant political competition and principled opposition are essential ingredients for building a stronger and more prosperous nation.
