The Imo Progressives Movement (IPM), a frontline political support group in Imo State, has commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for what it described as six years of purposeful governance, infrastructural renewal, and institutional reforms. The commendation was made during the Movement’s 4th National Executive Council (NEC) Meeting held on February 22, 2026, at its Secretariat in Owerri.

The meeting, convened by the Founder and National Convener of IPM, Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu, brought together political leaders, grassroots mobilizers, and stakeholders from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

The gathering provided an opportunity to review the administration’s performance as Governor Uzodimma marked six years in office, having assumed leadership on January 14, 2020.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, IPM described the Governor’s tenure as a period that altered the developmental direction of the state.

The Movement recalled that prior to 2020, Imo faced serious challenges, including deteriorating road networks, weak public infrastructure, fiscal strain, and social concerns. According to the group, the past six years have been characterized by deliberate policies and sustained investments aimed at rebuilding institutions and restoring public confidence.

The Movement pointed to the administration’s extensive road construction and rehabilitation efforts across the three senatorial zones of Owerri, Orlu, and Okigwe. It stated that more than 130 roads have been constructed, reconstructed, or awarded, improving connectivity between urban centers and rural communities.

The construction of the Assumpta Flyover in Owerri was highlighted as a key intervention that has eased traffic congestion and improved mobility within the capital. Broader urban renewal efforts, including upgraded street lighting, improved road corridors, and enhanced public spaces, were also cited as contributing to a more modern city landscape.

In the healthcare sector, IPM noted the rehabilitation of major health facilities, upgrades to general hospitals, and the establishment of an Infectious Disease Centre. These measures were described as strengthening healthcare delivery and expanding access to medical services.

The group also acknowledged reforms within the public service, including payroll adjustments and administrative improvements designed to enhance efficiency and accountability.
On education, the Movement referenced the rehabilitation of public schools and the recruitment of teachers as steps toward improving learning standards. It also highlighted youth-focused initiatives, particularly digital skills training programmes aimed at preparing young people for opportunities in technology and innovation-driven sectors.

Regarding economic development, IPM pointed to growth in internally generated revenue and efforts to promote fiscal discipline. Industrial and energy-related projects, including the Orashi Power and Gas Project and the Orashi Free Trade Zone, were described as initiatives intended to strengthen the state’s economic base, attract investment, and generate employment.

The Movement concluded by expressing continued support for the Governor’s administration and encouraging residents and stakeholders to remain focused on development goals. The communiqué was signed by Hon. Eugene Okechukwu Dibiagwu on behalf of the National Executive Council of the Imo Progressives Movement at the end of its Fourth NEC Meeting in Owerri.
