The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned candidates who registered for the 2026 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) but failed to attend, stating that such actions may attract sanctions. The board emphasized that once a candidate voluntarily signs up for the mock exercise, participation is expected.

JAMB explained that the mock UTME is designed to help candidates become familiar with the computer-based testing format and overall examination process. By missing the exercise without valid reasons, candidates not only lose this valuable preparation opportunity but also disrupt the board’s logistical planning.

The examination body further noted that absenteeism can affect resource allocation, as materials and systems are arranged based on the number of registered participants. Candidates who fail to appear after registering may therefore be held accountable for the inconvenience caused.

While the mock UTME remains optional, JAMB urged candidates to take their commitments seriously. The board reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining discipline, fairness, and efficiency in the conduct of examinations across the country.
