Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has appealed to residents and eligible voters across the state to ignore threats and intimidation and come out peacefully to vote in the governorship election scheduled for August 15.
The governor said every eligible voter has the constitutional right to participate in the election without fear. He urged the people to remain calm, law-abiding, and committed to a peaceful electoral process.
Adeleke encouraged voters not to allow political tension, false information, or acts of intimidation to stop them from exercising their civic responsibility. He said the election offers the people an opportunity to decide the future of the state through their votes.
He also called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully before, during, and after the election. According to him, all stakeholders should respect the rules guiding the electoral process and avoid actions that could lead to violence or unrest.
The governor appealed to security agencies and election officials to carry out their responsibilities with fairness and professionalism while ensuring the safety of voters and election materials across the state.
He further urged community leaders, youth groups, women, religious leaders, and civil society organisations to continue encouraging peace and unity in their communities throughout the election period.
As preparations for the August 15 governorship election continue, residents have been advised to obey electoral guidelines, maintain order at polling units, and reject any attempt to disrupt the voting process.
Governor Adeleke expressed confidence that the people of Osun State would once again demonstrate their commitment to democracy by participating peacefully and allowing the election to take place in a free, fair, and orderly atmosphere.
