Yoruba Political Support Group Slams Fake and Misleading Report, Sets the Record Straight

The Yoruba Political Support Group (YPSG) has strongly condemned what it described as a fake, misleading and unfounded publication in one of the local tabloid “The White paper Newspaper” of 31st July, 2026, purportedly issued by certain persons acting under the banner of the leadership of the Yoruba Community, adding that the publication contains several inaccurate, misleading and unfounded assertions concerning the legal status, existence, activities and legitimacy of the Yoruba Political Support Group (YPSG), insisting that the report is a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and tarnish the image of the organization.
In a statement issued by the leadership of the group, and jointly signed by the National Coordinator, General Secretary, Deputy National Director General, Amb. Adedeji Oshinowo, Abraham Timothy Folorunsho and Alabi Adedeji Joseph respectively, it said the publication contains false claims that do not reflect its position, activities or objectives. The group stressed that it remains committed to promoting peaceful political engagement, democratic values and responsible civic participation.
According to the statement, those behind the publication deliberately distorted facts to create confusion and undermine the credibility of the organization. YPSG described the report as malicious, urging members of the public to disregard it in its entirety.

YPSG emphasized that it was established to promote political participation, youth development, cultural integration, community service, and good governance. While its membership is predominantly Yoruba, the organization stressed that it is neither a department nor an affiliate of any Yoruba community body and continues to operate independently across Imo State and several regions of Nigeria.
“The Yoruba Political Support Group (YPSG) is an independent socio-political organization established with clearly defined objectives aimed at promoting political participation, youth development, cultural integration, community service and support for progressive governance.

“Its existence is neither speculative nor self-proclaimed; it is an established fact supported by its organizational records, public engagements and continuous activities”, it said

The organisation maintained that it is a duly registered socio-cultural body that has consistently maintained productive working relationships with relevant government institutions, particularly the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Hospitality, in advancing its socio-cultural programmes and community development initiatives.
According to the organisation, its commitment to fostering collaboration with government and political stakeholders has, over the years, seen it pay official courtesy visits to and honour several distinguished leaders in recognition of their exemplary leadership and service. Those honoured include the Imo State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Austin Onyedebelu; the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Ernest Ibejiakor; the Commissioner for Mines and Mineral Resources, Hon. Barr. Jerry Egemba; and the Commissioner for Youth and Talent Development, Dr. Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu.
The organisation further stated that it has sustained constructive relationships with several local government chairmen, including those of Owerri Municipal, Owerri West, Ikeduru and Mbaitoli Local Government Areas, while also engaging with key government appointees such as the Special Adviser on Political Matters, Hon. Perry Opara; the Special Adviser on Skill Acquisition, Hon. Chidi Onyebuchi; and the Special Adviser on Artisan Matters, Hon. Tex Ukaonu.
It added that its network of partnerships extends to other prominent personalities, including the Minister of State for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who serves as the organisation’s Grand Matron; the Wife of the Imo State Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Chioma Uzodimma, honoured as its Golden Mother; the Chief Executive Officer of Global Alliance Ltd., Dr. Biola Bashorun; and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties, Imo State Government, Elder Bimbola Ogunsanya.
The organisation stressed that these longstanding engagements underscore its credibility, independence and commitment to promoting socio-cultural development, while reaffirming its resolve to continue working with government institutions and other stakeholders in the interest of unity, cultural preservation sustainable community progress.

“We Yoruba Political Support Group (YPSG) remains a formidable and Progressives Socio-political entity, Good governance, youth empowerment, cultural Organization committed to pre integration and democratic participation.

“We reaffirm our unwavering support for the administration of His Excellency, Distinguished
Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State, whose inclusive leadership continues to foster unity, development and straighten the bond among the diverse people resident in the State.

“No publication, however worded, can diminish the lawful existence, accomplishments or resolve
of YPSG to continue serving its members and contributing positively to the Socio-political
development of Imo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
We remain focused, united and committed to our founding ideals”, the statement reads
