The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has strongly condemned recent airstrikes carried out by the United States in Nigeria, describing them as a violation of national sovereignty and a potential threat to civilian lives.
The party is demanding full disclosure of casualty figures and the extent of destruction caused by the strikes.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the ADC expressed deep concern over the lack of transparency surrounding the military operations.
The party warned that such attacks, carried out without public accountability, risk escalating tensions and undermining the trust of Nigerians in both domestic and international security operations.
The ADC urged the Nigerian government to release a detailed report of the strikes, including verified civilian casualties and property damage. The party also called for greater oversight of foreign military interventions, emphasizing that the safety and rights of citizens must remain the top priority.
Political analysts say that while international cooperation in tackling terrorism and insurgency is important, military actions must be carefully monitored to prevent loss of innocent lives.
They argue that transparency and accountability are crucial in maintaining public confidence and ensuring that military operations do not exacerbate insecurity.
The ADC concluded by calling on both the Nigerian government and international partners to adopt measures that protect civilians, uphold human rights, and prioritize peaceful solutions to conflicts.
The party stressed that the voices of affected communities must be heard and their suffering properly acknowledged.
