President Bola Tinubu has firmly rejected allegations linking him to violence against opposition figures in Nigeria, insisting that he neither carries weapons nor directs any form of political repression.

Responding to critics, the president dismissed claims that his administration is complicit in attacks on political rivals, emphasizing that such accusations are unfounded and politically motivated.
Speaking amid rising political tensions, Tinubu stated that he has no involvement in acts of violence and does not control armed groups.

His remarks appear aimed at countering narratives from opposition leaders and activists who have expressed concerns over reported intimidation, harassment, and attacks in parts of the country. The president maintained that Nigeria’s security agencies operate within the bounds of the law and are tasked with protecting all citizens, regardless of political affiliation.

The allegations come against the backdrop of Nigeria’s broader security challenges, including insurgency, banditry, communal clashes, and sporadic election-related violence. In such a complex security environment, political blame often intensifies during periods of heightened competition.

Critics argue that leaders must take responsibility for ensuring that democratic space remains open and safe, while supporters of the president contend that insecurity is a longstanding national issue not attributable to any single administration.

Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to democracy, national unity, and the rule of law, stressing that his government has no interest in silencing opposition voices. He called for constructive political engagement and urged stakeholders to avoid rhetoric that could further inflame tensions.

As Nigeria continues to navigate its security and political challenges, the debate underscores the importance of accountability, credible investigations into incidents of violence, and sustained efforts to strengthen democratic institutions.
