A chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is not invincible ahead of the 2027 general elections. He argued that if Nigerians were able to remove a sitting government in the past, they can do so again if present challenges remain unresolved.
Galadima referenced the 2015 general elections, when former President Goodluck Jonathan was voted out of office. He noted that dissatisfaction over insecurity and governance at the time played a major role in the outcome. According to him, the same democratic power that produced that change is still in the hands of the electorate today.
He warned that the APC could be “cut into pieces” in 2027 if it fails to address critical national issues such as economic hardship, rising insecurity, and declining living standards. Galadima maintained that growing hardship across the country, particularly among farmers and low-income earners, may significantly influence voter behaviour in the next election.
The NNPP chieftain further stressed that political leaders should not underestimate public frustration. He said history has shown that Nigerians are willing to hold governments accountable through the ballot when expectations are not met.
His comments come at a time of increasing political activity as parties begin early preparations for the 2027 elections. While the APC has continued to defend its performance and express confidence in its political strength, opposition figures insist that public dissatisfaction could reshape the political landscape if not properly addressed.
As the next general election approaches, Galadima’s remarks add to the growing debate over governance, accountability, and the direction of the country. The eventual outcome, however, will depend on how effectively political leaders respond to the concerns of the people.
