The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment places Placid in charge of the Force’s national media and public communications, a strategic role responsible for informing the public about police activities, policies, and security developments across the country.
DCP Placid brings several years of policing and public communication experience to the position. Over the course of his career, he has served in various operational and administrative capacities within the police, earning recognition for his professionalism and commitment to service.
He previously served as the Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa State, where he was actively involved in strengthening communication between the police and the public. His experience in managing media relations and crisis communication is expected to enhance the image and transparency of the police force.
Placid has also participated in international peacekeeping and security engagements, including assignments connected to the African Union. These experiences have contributed to his expertise in security management, training, and strategic communication.
As the new Force spokesperson, he is expected to oversee the dissemination of official information, coordinate media engagement, and strengthen public trust in the police institution.
His appointment comes as part of ongoing efforts by the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force to reposition the institution and improve communication with Nigerians on issues of security and policing.
