The Imo State chapter of the Action People’s Party (APP) has made a bold entry into the state’s political discourse with its maiden media interaction, signaling a strong and strategic push toward the 2027 general elections. The event, held on March 27, 2026, at the party’s state secretariat in Owerri, brought together journalists and top party officials in what was described as a defining moment for the party’s public engagement.

Addressing the media, the State Chairman, Ernest Njesi, said the interaction was part of the party’s effort to build public confidence and clearly communicate its vision for governance in Imo State. He noted that the APP is committed to championing people-centered policies that will improve living conditions, strengthen institutions, and promote inclusive development across the state.

Njesi highlighted the party’s growing influence at the grassroots level, noting that its structures are expanding steadily in communities across Imo. According to him, the APP is positioning itself as a credible and formidable alternative, ready not only to win elections but also to provide purposeful and transparent leadership. He added that the party remains focused on presenting candidates who possess integrity, competence, and the intellectual capacity to deliver effective governance.

A key moment during the session was the party’s support for its 2027 governorship aspirant, Chima Matthew Amadi, popularly known as Gburugburu. The leadership described him as a visionary and capable leader with the experience and determination required to drive meaningful transformation in the state. They expressed confidence that his candidacy would attract support among the electorate.

On the issues of security and economic development, the party assured residents of its commitment to protecting lives and property. It also pledged to create a business-friendly environment that encourages investment, boosts entrepreneurship, and generates employment opportunities. These priorities, the leadership noted, are central to the APP’s development agenda for Imo State.

Responding to inquiries about the party’s legal status, Njesi stated that the APP is fully registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), dismissing any speculation to the contrary. The party’s Legal Adviser, Uche Nwosu, also cautioned against the spread of misinformation and urged critics to avoid false claims about the party.

The event also had in attendance several key members of the party’s leadership, including the State Secretary, zonal chairmen, treasurer, and publicity secretary, all of whom restated their commitment to strengthening the party’s structure and expanding its reach.

As the session concluded, the APP leadership made it clear that preparations for the 2027 elections are already in top gear. With plans underway to roll out new programmes and initiatives, party members and supporters were encouraged to remain united and committed as the party continues to build momentum in Imo State.
