Professor Johncliff Nwadike, the immediate past commissioner for education, Imo State, has vowed to rededicate himself towards the cause of Imo State transformation spearheaded by the 3R Government of Governor Hope Uzodimma, adding that his reappointment by the governor was a challenge for him to be at his best in delivering whatever task that may be assigned to him by the governor.
Professor Nwadike, full of gratitude to Governor Uzodimma, disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the end of the two-day retreat for yet to be inaugurated appointees on Thursday in Owerri. He posited that the Imo State Chief Executive, desirous of finishing well, has assembled those who would assist him to consolidate on his unprecedented achievements in the state, hinting that the governor’s second tenure holds great promise for the state.
The Isu LGA-born academic turned politician stated: “I must start by thanking and appreciating the governor for finding me worthy to be a member of his cabinet for this second tenure. It shows that our governor wants to form a formidable team to help him actualize the 3R mantra. And any person that is fortune to be appointed or reappointed has a serious task to perform given that this period is crucial for our governor to finish his good works.
“I must confess that I have vowed and rededicated myself to this government to ensure that Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is not disappointed for reappointing me. He has demonstrated confidence in me and I have to reciprocate this gesture through hard work, dedication and commitment towards the success of this administration.
“I thank God for the retreat our governor organized for us for two days. We have learnt a lot and the new things we learnt will help us to develop more qualitative policies that would help us to drive the 3R mantra home. Imo people expect so much from him and he cannot do it alone. He needs people to work with him while he drives his lofty vision for a greater Imo State towards realization.
“So, it our duty as those he has appointed to help him actualize the dreams of the state. And the only way we can do it is to be more committed to our duties and to be friendly not only to the civil servants in our various ministries, but to the entire Imo people so as to lead by example. For me, it is a challenge for me likewise others to show capacity in delivering our mandates for the good of the state. This is what the present government represents.”
Also fielding questions about the delay in reconstituting the cabinet, Professor Nwadike, justified the actions of the governor as being meticulous in assembling a good team to work with him. “Actually, what the governor did was to enable him enough time to access those he would work with. He has made it categorically clear that his second tenure would be far better than his first tenure, and this might be the reason why he took his time to dot his tis and to cross his ies.
He further emphasized that government is a continuum, hence functioned well with civil servants during the period that the appointees were absent, clarifying: “Government is a continuum and as far as I am concerned, there is no vacuum in government activities. When the commissioners are not there, the permanent secretaries and directors are still there in the ministries, agencies and paratatals discharging governmental responsibilities effectively.
