As the September 2024 Local Government Council Elections in Imo State draw near, many APC members who intend to run for councilor and chairman positions have expressed their dissatisfaction with the high prices of the party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

Gathering under the “Association of Imo APC LGA Councilorship & Chairmanship Aspirants,” the group, through their Coordinator, voiced their discontent with the cost set by the Imo APC leadership.

“We are devoted members of the APC, aspiring to serve as councilors and chairmen in our respective local areas. Many of us have worked tirelessly for the party, but the exorbitant form prices make it impossible for many credible and popular aspirants to afford them. Selling councilorship forms for ₦1,000,000 and chairmanship forms for ₦3,000,000 is unacceptable,” said the Coordinator.

He continued, “We live in a democratic society and are asking Governor Hope Uzodimma and the Imo APC leadership to reduce the form prices to ₦300,000 for councilorship and ₦500,000 for chairmanship. The current economic situation is tough, and people are struggling to make ends meet. As young aspirants, we can’t afford such high costs.”

The Coordinator further appealed to the party leaders, emphasizing that lowering the prices would likely result in increased participation from youths, ultimately benefiting the party financially. “We urge Governor Uzodimma to heed our request and make the forms more affordable,” he concluded.
