To intensify contribution to the peace, progress, social security and economic advancement of Imo State, Prohealth HMO Limited, has partnered with the Imo State Government to successfully host the maiden edition of the Imo Youth Marathon.
The Maiden Marathon was themed “Running for Peace.”
The event, which attracted many youths within Imo State who actively participated, was held in Owerri, the state capital, with the objective of promoting Peace, Unity, Healthy Living and Youth Engagement through Sports.
The Marathon was officially flagged off by the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, who described the feat as germane, timely and instrumental for the promotion of peaceful coexistence among the youth of Imo.
Representing the Management of Prohealth HMO Limited at the event, Mr. Moses Uvie-Odeghe, the Regional Manager for the South East, expressed Prohealth’s continued commitment to support youth- focused and health-driven programs.
Ovie-Odeghe stressed that fitness and mental wellness are essential pillars for a progressive society, saying a wealthy nation is a healthy people.
Speaking, Commissioner for Youth Development and Talent Hunt, Dr. Emeka Mandela Ukaegbu, said that the activity would indeed promote peace and strengthen goodness in the state.
Ukaegbu expressed deep appreciation to Prohealth HMO Limited for its support and corporate social responsibility, noting that such a partnership was vital in empowering young people and fostering a culture of peace and healthy competition in the state.
The event ended with prize presentations to outstanding runners and a pledge by organizers to make the Imo Youth Marathon a yearly program.
