AMAUZARI, IMO STATE – May 28, 2025 — In a landmark gesture aimed at transforming rural healthcare delivery, the Chizitere Ahubelem Foundation, led by renowned philanthropist Engr. Chizitere Ahubelem, popularly known as Chizzy Whizzy, has commissioned a solar-powered electrification project at the Amauzari Health Centre in Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State.

The project, which was officially inaugurated during a ceremony attended by government officials, traditional rulers, and community stakeholders, brings reliable, sustainable electricity to the health centre — a critical upgrade that will ensure uninterrupted medical services in the once power-deprived facility.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Uche Ewelike, Director General of the Imo State Health Insurance Agency (IMSHIA), commended the Foundation’s foresight and commitment to sustainable development. “This is not just about powering a building. This is about powering hope, health, and dignity in one of our rural communities,” Dr. Ewelike stated.

In a further show of compassion and dedication to public welfare, Engr. Ahubelem also donated ₦1.5 million to enroll 100 underprivileged residents into the Imo State Health Insurance Scheme. This generous contribution ensures that the beneficiaries will now have access to free, quality medical care, removing a major barrier to healthcare access in the region.

Local healthcare workers at the Amauzari Health Centre expressed profound gratitude, describing the intervention as a “life-saving initiative” that has revitalized the facility’s ability to provide care. Prior to the electrification project, frequent power outages had crippled operations, particularly in emergency and maternal care services.

Community leaders echoed these sentiments, praising the Chizitere Ahubelem Foundation for its proactive role in bridging gaps in healthcare infrastructure. “What Engr. Ahubelem has done is more than charity — it is a legacy of hope for our people,” one local elder remarked.

The Foundation, known for its numerous outreach programs and development projects across Nigeria, reaffirmed its commitment to uplifting underserved communities. In a statement, Engr. Ahubelem emphasized that the initiative was part of a broader mission to empower grassroots communities through sustainable, impact-driven projects.

We believe that access to healthcare should not depend on geography or income. This is just the beginning,” he said.

As the solar panels now power the health centre’s operations and residents begin to benefit from their new health insurance coverage, the people of Amauzari are celebrating what many call a turning point in their community’s journey toward health and development.
