Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has issued a direct warning to the United States, declaring that any American involvement in Israel’s ongoing military operations against Iran would lead to what he described as “irreparable consequences.”
In a statement released on Wednesday, Khamenei accused the U.S. of deliberately escalating tensions in the Middle East and stated that Iran would not remain passive in the face of foreign intervention. He emphasized that the country’s armed forces are prepared to defend Iran’s sovereignty and interests “at any cost.”
The warning comes in response to comments made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who recently said that the U.S. was considering joining the conflict. Trump stated that his “patience has already run out” with Tehran and called for Iran’s unconditional surrender as the only acceptable resolution to the war.
Although no official decision has been announced, Trump held a high-level Situation Room meeting on Wednesday afternoon to discuss possible military strategies. White House sources say various options were reviewed, including limited airstrikes and cyber operations.
Trump has also been posting a series of vague and cryptic messages on social media over the past week, fueling speculation that a U.S. intervention could be imminent.
Global reactions have been swift. Several world leaders, including those from Russia, China, and the European Union, have urged restraint and called for immediate diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation. An emergency session of the United Nations Security Council has been requested to address the crisis.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has welcomed the possibility of U.S. support, reiterating that Israel will do whatever is necessary to neutralize threats from Iran. However, he stopped short of confirming any joint operations.
With tensions continuing to rise, the international community is bracing for the possibility of a broader conflict in the region. The world watches closely as decisions made in the coming days could shape the future of Middle Eastern stability.
