Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have formally welcomed the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as National Chairman of the party, describing the move as part of the APC’s transformation and internal evolution.
The resolution was announced at the conclusion of a two-day strategic meeting held in Benin City, Edo State, and hosted by Governor Monday Okpebholo. The Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), which comprises APC governors nationwide, commended Ganduje’s decision, noting it reflects his commitment to the party’s long-term interest.
Ganduje resigned on Friday, citing the need to attend to pressing personal matters. In his resignation letter addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC), he expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as chairman.
Following his exit, Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Dalori, has taken over in an acting capacity pending a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to officially appoint a new chairman.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, read by PGF Chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, the governors reaffirmed their dedication to the unity and prosperity of Nigeria. They pledged to uphold the party’s core values while embracing technology and innovation to advance grassroots development.
The governors also reiterated their full support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, urging Nigerians at home and abroad to rally behind the administration as it works to build a secure, inclusive, and progressive future for the country.
