APC Sets ₦20 Million for Senate Nomination Form, Releases Timetable for 2025 Bye-Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released its timetable and schedule of activities for the upcoming 2025 bye-elections, announcing that nomination forms for the Senate will cost ₦20 million, while those for the House of Representatives will go for ₦10 million.

According to a circular signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, the bye-elections will take place in two senatorial districts, five federal constituencies, and nine state assembly constituencies. The elections are scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.

The electoral process will begin with a notice of election to state chapters on Monday, June 30, 2025. The revalidation and update of the party’s membership register is scheduled to run from Tuesday, July 1 to Saturday, July 5, 2025.

The sale of Expression of Interest, Nomination, and Delegate Forms will take place from Monday, July 7 to Thursday, July 10, with the deadline for submission also set for July 10.

Screening of aspirants will be conducted on Monday, July 14, followed by screening appeals on Wednesday, July 16. Delegate congresses are scheduled for Thursday, July 17, while any appeals from the congresses will be heard on Friday, July 18.

Primary elections will be held on Saturday, July 19, with appeals to follow the next day. A ratification congress, in line with the Electoral Act 2022, will also be conducted on the same day to validate the primary results.

The list of nominated candidates will be submitted between Tuesday, July 22 and Saturday, July 26. Campaign activities are expected to begin on Saturday, July 26 and end on Thursday, August 14, two days before the elections.

The party also detailed the fees required for each elective position. Aspirants seeking to contest for a senatorial seat will pay ₦3 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦17 million for the Nomination form, totaling ₦20 million. House of Representatives aspirants are to pay ₦1 million for the Expression of Interest and ₦9 million for the Nomination form, totaling ₦10 million. Those contesting for State House of Assembly seats will pay ₦500,000 for Expression of Interest and ₦1.5 million for Nomination, totaling ₦2 million.

In a move aimed at promoting inclusivity, the party announced that female aspirants and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) will only be required to pay for the Expression of Interest Form, while the Nomination Form will be issued to them free of charge. Youths between the ages of 25 and 40 will also pay for the Expression of Interest Form and enjoy a 50 percent discount on the Nomination Fee.

The party added that Delegate Forms will be sold for ₦5,000 each. Only financial members who have paid their dues consistently at a monthly rate of ₦200 for no less than three months are eligible to elect delegates. All forms will be available for purchase at the party’s National Headquarters.
