The leadership sargacity of Prof. James Okoroma and some others in Imo state has being applauded for effectively discharging his responsibilities as ADC chairman Imo state ,thru pragmatic style of leadership.
A cursory look on our dear state, Imo which has drawn decent and patriotic Imo tested hands aligning with the party today. The state pub sec who reflected on the circumstances in the state disclosed that Nigeria is very unlucky as elected leaders who should have being Voices for those who elected them are deprived of reasons for their representations.
Instead of being advocates, leaders for the masses , they chose to abandon developmental impacts that reflects the needs and aspirations of the people.
Sadly, Nigerians, especially for the people of Imo State, those expectations have not been met under the current adminstration of All Progressive Congress (APC). Since coming to power in Jan.2020, Imo citizens witnessed a tremendous loss of lives . The number of youths and properties lost speaks volumes. This administration lacks the creative vision to tackle insecurity and creat job opportunities for our youths.
These are the outcome when people assume responsibilties without adquate preparation, the result is actually what we the people of Imo State is experiencing since the depensation of this democracy even when the world has gone digital.
Adequate preparations entails proper
“ RESEARCH ” thus:
- Why am I here? This entails what the people is expecting from you ,
- What is available? This shows your capacity as a leader by using what you met on ground to transform your state.
- How do I manage this available Resources? This has to do with harnessing the natural and human resources to make impact in your state.
A Leadership devoid in action
Perhaps the most damning indicator of failed leadership of this APC adminstration is the glaring absence of impactful projects across the state. Infrastructure remains in disrepair, rural roads continue to deteriorate, making movement of people and agricultural products a logistical nightmare. Several communities still lack basic access to clean water, healthcare, and electricity, despite countless promises made during the campaign trail.
Imo State is blessed with a lot of natural resources such as limestone, clay etc and fertile land. When I talked of adequate preparation, one can look back to the days of Dee Sam Mbakwe PhD, his adminstration can be termed developmental goverance that is what proper research can bring on board.
A case in point is the kind of advocacy propagated by one of our candidates in the state such as High Chief Dr Collins Chigozie Osuagwu whose consistency in challenging the rascalities and maladministration of the APC governments in Imo state as well as the federal government.
APC in all ramifications means no well for Nigeria. No adequate preparations or blue print of their governance.
No wonder , Chief Dr Osuagwu was amongst the first set of Imo leaders to identify with Aregbesola’s emergence as National Secretary -general with Sen. David Mark as Interim National Chairman of our well organized Party
A new Normal is possible. Adequate preparations does not depend solely on federal allocations. Dee Sam Onunaka Mbakwe PhD demonstrated that creating job opportunities for Imo citizens was a priority using Ada palm, Avu poultry, Shoe industry to mention but few. cassava has over fifteen raw industrial components accruable from our fertile lands This alone can create job opportunities for over 60% of our youths.
The Disconnect from the Citizens remains another troubling
trend which has created serious distance of the government from it’s citizens as well as Reports of ignored complaints of citizens over the destruction of their farm lands and products by the Fulani herdsmen, lack of adequate security of the citizens.
The inability of government to harness the natural and human resources in creating job opportunities to the youths, paints a portrait of a leader who has become complacent.
In times of crisis from security challenges to economic downturns, Imo citizens have lamented the silence and inaction from the very person they elected to govern them. In the words of Chief Dr Collins Osuagwu, a true leader maintains a constant dialogue with the people. It’s regrettable that our own has built walls where bridges were needed and now governs Imo citizens from Abuja.
The Call for Change in 2027
Democracy thrives when accountability, transparency and rule of law is not optional. The 2027 elections present a critical opportunity for the people of Imo State to look somewhere else to remedy the damages this present administration has caused . A political party with sound ideology is the answer, this is where African Democratic Congress ( ADC ) comes in. I would have said look beyond party politics, but I have come to realize that power intoxicates . A saint today might turn to be devil tomorrow but working with a political party with sound ideology, one can easily be checkmated . The people of Imo State demand a leader who is present, proactive, and truly aligned with their interests. Leadership is not about titles or access to power, but about service, visibility, and results.
It is time for the electorate to reject mediocrity masked in political slogans. It is time to insist on leaders with a track record of delivery, integrity, and transparency using a political party with sound ideology. The consequences of repeating past mistakes are too great.
Prof Okoroma is taking his time to ensure that these individuals or group aligning with ADC has the same ideology with ADC anchored on Justice , transparency and fairness.
African Democratic Congress has come to rewrite the wrongs. The only political party with sound ideology and by the nature of their constitution are ready to checkmate the excess of anyone they give power. The only political party that can adopt you and transform your leadership understanding. With ADC Imo State will rise again.
