President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday visited the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari at their residence in Kaduna. The condolence visit was part of the President’s official trip to the state and served as a moment of national reflection and unity.
Earlier in the day, President Tinubu attended the wedding of Nasirudeen Yari, son of former Zamfara State Governor and current Senator Abdul’aziz Yari. The event, held at the Sultan Bello Mosque, drew a large gathering of political leaders from across the country.
At the Buhari family home, Tinubu was received by the former First Lady, Aisha Buhari, along with other family members. He offered his condolences and described Muhammadu Buhari as a leader whose contributions to the country will be remembered. Tinubu also said his administration would continue to uphold the values that Buhari stood for, such as discipline, honesty, and service to the people.
The President noted that although Buhari is no longer physically present, his ideas and values still influence the direction of the country. He told the family that the federal government remains committed to honoring Buhari’s memory through actions that reflect the principles he lived by.
President Tinubu was accompanied by several top officials, including the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, ministers, and other political figures. Their presence highlighted the wide respect Buhari earned during his lifetime and the importance of the visit.
In her response, Aisha Buhari thanked the President for coming and for the support the family had received since her husband’s passing. She urged Nigerians to live by the values Buhari promoted and to work together for peace and national development.
Political analysts have noted that the visit was both a personal show of support to the Buhari family and a reminder of the shared goals within the leadership of the country. It also served to strengthen unity within the ruling All Progressives Congress.
