The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced with deep sadness the passing of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, describing his death as a painful loss to the party, the government of Bayelsa State and the Nigerian political community.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the party said it received the news with shock, noting that Senator Ewhrudjakpo was a loyal party member and a dependable administrator whose contributions had a lasting impact on the governance and development of Bayelsa State. The PDP recalled his dedication to public service, stating that his humble and disciplined leadership style earned him admiration across political and social circles.
The party highlighted his years of service, both in the National Assembly and as Deputy Governor, where he showed commitment to the welfare of the people. His efforts in promoting peace, strengthening political unity and supporting community development were acknowledged as part of the legacy he leaves behind.
According to the PDP, his death creates a significant void in the political structure of Bayelsa, as he played an important role in supporting the administration of Governor Douye Diri.
