A United States jurist and global leadership advocate, Justice Cheryl Grant, has called on Nigeria to confront corruption decisively and adopt transformative leadership as a pathway to sustainable national development.
Justice Grant made the call while delivering a keynote address at a high level leadership event in Abuja, where she emphasized that corruption, though a global challenge, must not be allowed to erode public trust or hinder Nigeria’s progress.
She stressed that true leadership goes beyond slogans, noting that leaders must demonstrate integrity, inclusiveness, accountability, and a clear commitment to the welfare of citizens. According to her, transformative leadership has the power to rebuild trust, strengthen institutions, and inspire hope, especially in challenging times.
Nigeria holds a unique position in Africa and the global Black community, Justice Grant said, adding that ethical and visionary leadership would enable the country to fully realize its vast human and economic potential.
The US jurist also encouraged Nigerians not to lose faith in their country, urging leaders and citizens alike to work collectively toward national renewal. She highlighted the importance of collaboration between Africa and the diaspora in areas such as governance, youth empowerment, business, and education.
Justice Grant delivered her remarks at a leadership public lecture, excellence awards ceremony, and appeal fund event organized to support the educational rehabilitation of internally displaced children and promote good governance and inclusive development.
Her message has resonated strongly amid ongoing national conversations on anti corruption reforms and governance, reinforcing the view that ethical leadership and active citizen engagement remain critical to Nigerias future growth and stability.
