Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead a high-level Federal Government delegation to Kano in response to the devastating fire outbreak at the Singer (Singa) Market.
The fire, which reportedly started late Saturday night and continued into the early hours of Sunday, destroyed shops and goods valued at billions of naira. Singer Market is one of the busiest commercial centres in Kano State, providing daily income for thousands of traders and serving a large customer base. The incident has left many business owners in distress, with significant losses recorded and livelihoods severely disrupted.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directed the Vice President to head the delegation as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to assess the scale of the damage and show solidarity with the Kano State Government and affected traders. The visit is also intended to convey the President’s sympathy to victims and reassure them of federal support during this challenging period.
The delegation, comprising senior government officials and heads of relevant agencies, is expected to meet with state authorities, market leaders, and victims of the disaster.
