Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has been granted bail in the sum of ₦200 million by the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna.

The court approved his bail on strict conditions, including the provision of two credible sureties, one of whom must be a traditional ruler and the other a senior civil servant. He is also required to submit his international passport and relevant property documents.

As part of the bail terms, the court barred El-Rufai from granting media interviews or making public statements concerning the case while the trial is ongoing.

Despite the bail approval, the former governor is to remain in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) pending the fulfillment of all bail conditions.

Meanwhile, a separate proceeding at the Kaduna State High Court concerning a related matter has been adjourned, with the court expected to rule on a bail application on April 21, 2026.

El-Rufai is currently facing allegations linked to corruption and abuse of office, though the court proceedings are ongoing.
