Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has declared that a new, progressive Imo is taking shape under his leadership, as he presented a detailed performance report to the Imo State House of Assembly in Owerri.
In what was described as a “State of the State” address, the governor highlighted the strides made by his administration across critical sectors since he assumed office in 2020, with particular emphasis on the achievements recorded in the past 18 months of his second term.
Speaking before lawmakers and dignitaries from across political divides, Governor Uzodimma said his administration inherited a state plagued by institutional decay, poor infrastructure, and dwindling public trust. However, he noted that deliberate reforms and strategic investments have since repositioned Imo State on a path of sustainable development.
The governor outlined key achievements in road infrastructure, education, healthcare, digital economy, workers’ welfare, and power supply. Notable among the projects listed were the iconic Assumpta Flyover, upgrades at the Imo Airport which recently hosted its first international flight, and the ongoing Light-Up Imo electricity project aimed at boosting economic productivity.
He also referenced the landmark Oguta Lake–Atlantic Ocean dredging project, which he described as a game-changer that will transform Imo into a major commercial hub in the South East.
Governor Uzodimma emphasized the importance of building a people-oriented government anchored on transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving public service delivery, strengthening democratic institutions, and creating an investor-friendly environment.
“Today, Imo stands tall with durable roads, modern infrastructure, revitalized public services, and the promise of steady electricity,” the governor said. “We are not just building projects—we are building a legacy and a future.”
