…Empowers Indigent Persons

It was a celebration galore on Saturday, July 5, 2025, following the Installation of Rtn. Mrs. Ogudo Francisca Ukamaka as the 3rd President of the Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown for the 2025/2026 Rotary Year.
This was as the new President empowered three indigent persons with grinders and a vulcanizing machine. The beneficiaries included: Mrs. Azuka Ogudo,
Mrs. Promise Emmanuel and Mr. Nkori Okeke, as they expressed gratitude that the gesture would alleviate their economic conditions.
The colourful ceremony which took place at the Greatwood Hotel, Owerri, drew large participants both within the Rotary Club and beyond, while witnessing tastefully decorated hall, solemn installation rituals and thrilling entertainment and dances..
The University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) trained Accountant is expected to bring her diversified wealth of experience and innovation to bear in ensuring impactful service for the club, having demostrated competency and reliability in her previous positions within the club at different levels.
In her address, Rtn. Ogudo Ukamaka stated: “With great humility, I accept the responsibility of leading this club as its third President. This moment is both a privilege and a call to duty – to serve with integrity, to build on the legacies of those who came before me, and to contribute meaningfully to the growth and impact of Rotary in our community and beyond.”
She paid tribute to the founding members for their noble vision, as well as appreciated members of the club for their contributions towards making the club to live out its humanitarian mission in the society, as she appealed to them not to relent.
Soliciting support for the execution of her 2025/2026 Project which she unveiled at the occasion from members and guests, Rtn. Ogudo, averred: “This year Rotary International massage ‘Unite for Good’ brings with it responsibilities and opportunities. Our club has set ambitious goals, and with your support, we believe they are well within reach.”
Rtn. Ogudo, also the Founder of Maka’s Entity, used the opportunity to appreciate her guests and all who contributed in making the event a success, praying God to bless them, while promising impactful and eventful Rotary Year.
Among the personalities that graced the occasion was the Rotary Club District 9142 Governor-Elect, Rtn. Kelechi Anyanwu, while the event also witnessed the Inauguration of Board of Directors, Launching of Service Projects and Presentation of 8 Humanitarian and 3 Appreciation Awards to deserving recipients, including Rotarians.
Meanwhile, some Rotarians have expressed confidence of a good era for the Rotary Club of Owerri Newtown under Rtn. Ogudo. While speaking with our reporter, they asserted that her records of efficiency in previous assignments would be translated into her new position. They speakers included the Installation Chairman, Rtn. Christian Nwanebu and Rtn. Angel Amaefule.
Let’s recall that Rotary International with branches worldwide is a club where members understake humanitarian services using their time, talents and treasures. Its areas of focus include: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development and support for the environment.
