Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday led a high-level delegation to London to condole with former First Lady Aisha Buhari following the death of her husband, former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The delegation, which included Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila and Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, was sent on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They were received at the late president’s London residence, where they offered prayers and words of comfort to the bereaved family.
Also present was Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, who joined the team in London. The visit was part of broader efforts to console the family and make arrangements for the repatriation of Buhari’s remains to Nigeria for burial.
During their stay, the delegation also visited former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar and veteran journalist Mamman Daura, both of whom are currently in London.
Buhari’s body is expected to be returned to Nigeria shortly for burial in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State, with full Islamic and state honors.
