Women have been advised to participate keenly in the political structure of the nation to make their voice heard as well contribute in the nation building.
The national coordinator coalition of all APC women support group Dr Oluchi Erondu gave this advice during their sensitization visit in owerri on Saturday 1st June 2024.
Dr Erondu said that there are enormous benefits in women participation in politics and governance stressing that the group mission statement include political empowerment of women, eradication of gender discrimination, accessibility of financial support, and raising a strong voice for women.
“Investing on women education and empowerment and well-being has a profound ripple on society as a whole, when women are educated they tend to invest more in families, communities and economy leading to a positive out come such as reducing poverty, improved health care and increased prosperity, she said.
The legal adviser of the group Barr Chilaka Igidi in her speech posited that women participation in politics and governance is essential for the development of equitable, effective policies and achieving gender equality, ensuring that policies and decisions reflect the diverse needs and perspective of the society.
Also speaking Dr Lady Uche Obi a director in the group said the programme is cut across political education for women adding that a lot of women are ignorant of what politics is all about whereas some are just following underground without knowing how to go about their dreams.
“Hence we want to educate, train and empower women so that they will be relevant to the system, we have kick started here in southeast and will reach out to other zones thereafter we will converge at Abuja to start rolling out our plans, she concluded.
