I ‘ll tackle infrastructure deficit in Ohaji/Egbema if elected Chairman – Adonis

As Imo State goes to Council election on 21st September 2024, the former Legislative Leader of Ohaji/Egbema Council, Rt. Hon. Adonis Nick Obinna, says he will speedy the tackling of infrastructure deficit in the oil rich region if he is elected as Executive Chairman.

Adonis added that he will encompass youths in the scheme of things, employ them, empower them with relevant skills to enable them engage in productive activities, just as he vowed to rebuild dilapidated administraive blocs in the Council headquarters, Mmahu.

He gave the assurance while speaking with media professionals shortly after obtaining the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms at APC State Secretariat Owerri on Monday.

The vibrant youth and pragmatic politician said he has the political capacity and leadership experience to become the Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema, positing that he has been practically tested in leadership by the people.

He stated that it is Youth O’ clock, a time when youths of the locality will be given opportunities to take part in governance and thereby calving a niche for themselves, remarking that when young people are taught how to fish, they would become more useful, resourceful and responsible.

“I am among the best persons vying for the Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema Council. This is Youth O’ clock. The place where oil is produced in Imo State really needs speedy intervention especially on infrastructure, just as it is in Obiokpo LGA in Rivers State and a local government in Lagos State. Youth employment and empowerment, infrastructure and human capital development are part of my blueprints”, Adonis reflected.

Promising better days for the agrarian people of Ohaji/Egbema, Adonis urged the people to see him fit and worthy for the Executive Chairmanship Seat, support him and vote him in, assuring that he will not disappoint them if he goes to the Council.

Adonis who hails from Egbema Zone C, stressed that he will consolidate the existing peace at the locality if he goes to the Council, thanking the youth for their support, urging them to continue the love by electing him.

He thanked Governor Hope Uzodimma for his development strides in Imo State, which he pointed out, are instrumental to the peace and security of the state, just as he saluted him for according a smooth level playing ground for all aspirants in the Council Election.

He appealed for the consideration of Egbema Zone C for Chairmanship Position, as it has not gone there before.

“Egbema Zone C, which includes Obokofia to Umudike, encompassing two INEC Wards, with over seven large communities, despite its substantial population, this zone has historically been underrepresented in elective positions, including the Executive and Vice Chairman roles of Ohaji/Egbema.

“Given the significant number of constituents and the peaceful nature of Egbema Zone C, Adonis is respectfully soliciting Ohaji/Egbema political leaders, APC, members and the Government of Imo State to address this long-standing issue.

“Hence, I begged that – having come from this zone – I should be given due consideration for the chairmanship position in recognition of our demographic and peaceful contributions to the local government.

“It is crucial to ensure fair representation and equitable distribution of leadership positions to strengthen our party’s commitment to inclusivity and justice. God bless APC, God bless Ohaji/Egbema, God bless Imo State”, he reflected.
